What’s New?
*Prof. Veneeta Dayal, Yale University was in the Department on the 17th of July, 2024 for an interaction with the students. She discussed with us her super-interesting on-going work on cross-linguistic patterns of Number semantics and we had a nice Q-and-A session with her.
*The Department celebrated the 74th Republic Day of India on the 26th of January, 2024 by organizing an online presentation-discussion on “The Constituent Assembly Debates on Language”. Ms Niveditha, our alumna, presented the debates and Dr Avinash Pandey was the discussant. The session offered interesting insights into the language question in India as it was debated, resolved and finally reflected in the Indian Constitution.
* On April 27th, the students of MA Semester IV made seminar presentations on various aspects of Multani language. These presentations were a result of their extensive field work on Multani in Mumbai and Delhi. Here is a snap-shot of their data-collection session in Delhi…
* The students of MA and PhD of our Department thoroughly enjoyed learning ‘how to read like a writer and how to write like a reader’ with Prof Anannya Dasgupta and her team, in a workshop we organized on Attentive Reading and Writing (23-24 March).
