The Department started M.Phil programme in Linguistics in 2012-13. The M.Phil in Linguistics is a 2-year programme including 1 year of coursework followed by the dissertation year.

Admission procedure: The admission to the M.Phil. programme is through a PET examination conducted centrally by the University of Mumbai. Candidates who have passed the PET will be asked to make a presentation in front of the Admissions Committee of the Department on the proposed topic on which the candidates wish to conduct research. The selected candidates can enrol in the M.Phil. programmes. The rules of exemption from the PET apply as per the University rules. Currently, in accordance with the UGC regulations, the intake capacity of the M.Phil programme is 01.
